And this is one of the first years I'm done getting baskets together with plenty of time to spare. We decided to walk around today...for HOURS. {I can't tell if we're convincing Corbin to come out or if we're just wearing mama out} One of our stops was Target. Now, I know I'm not the only one that LOVES the Dollar Isle when putting together baskets and stockings and such. I tried to explain to Dan that for years, I didn't get a "basket", I got either a purse or a suitcase with 'stuff' in it for Easter. I loved it!! I tried to follow that same tradition with the girls and get them each a cute bag and just fill it to the brim with cute stationary and bubbles and such. He wasn't having it. "They NEED baskets and they NEED candy! It's un-American! If we're going to fall into this money holiday, we're doing it right!" He isn't usually so passionate about something as simple as an Easter Basket, so I said, "Well, fine! Lets go to the seasonal isle!"
After some compromise on the style of baskets and the 'filler' items...and $55 later, these are the girls Easter Baskets! Early!! I decided to go ahead and put them together and hide them in my closet until the 31st just in case Corbin decides to come this month. I can imagine I won't have the time or energy to do much of anything creative in the first week of his life.
I'd like to state for the record that if I had been able to get them a cute bag and fill it with Dollar Isle items, we would have spent maaaaybe $20. But, I'm happy with the final product. A colorful tin they can use all year long, things to keep them busy, and only just a couple sugar highs. :) And yes...Mama got a Reeses Pieces Carrot too. It's only fair, right?
